Undoubtedly, stolen from the MOD, all UK military watches surely are.

Painful to see, great watch ruined..

I'm far from an expert, so therefore my question, is the dial original? Shouldn't it have a circled T?

    The quick answer is, yes.
The dial it it now looks vintage Omega from 1969-ish.
Early issued SM300's might not have had a T dial but from memory they were not BT's, so one way or another I do not think the present dial can be original.

Can't be a W10 because all of them were delivered in 1967.

And as watchlovr said, actually all MoD watches in civil hands were somehow "lost" or written off. Obviously the owner of this one wanted to make it rather difficult to get convicted.

Regarding the dial. Yes, it should have a circled T. But is is quite common even for Big triangle 0552s that the original dial had been changed during service sometimes in the past.

Beside this, the auction description states only it was delivered to the UK, not to the British Military. That is also quit common, not all W10 / 0552 were delivered directly to the MoD, some were bought from civil watchdealers like Goldsmith.

So all that issues are lowering the value significantly. I doubt it will meet the reserve. We will see...
