I have not seen a watchlet quite like this. Appears to be from around 1906 (you can clearly see the serial number on the inside of the back cover plate), which is consistent with its large size (literally looks like a pocket watch with lugs attached). The map face seems to be of the Americas, as well as Australia in the lower left, with a sailing ship in the upper left. Words are in some type of Latin language. The Paris Grand Prix 1900 stamping is consistent with this era.

Has anyone seen an Omega watch like this before? Does anyone know its history or purpose?

Any information on the watch would be much appreciated. 1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg 4.jpg 5.jpg 6.jpg

    Yes. All over eBay.

History is mostly as a real pocketwatch. Converted to a wrist watch in the last decade by someone in Eastern Europe, likely Ukraine. The dial is a fantasy that never existed.

Purpose is strictly to deceive the novice collector.

If you paid more that $100 for this, you've been ripped off.

Because it is a pocket that had lug attached to it.

As @gatorcpa said its a Ukrainian assembled pocket watch conversion, worth almost nothing I'm afraid
