With my father's birthday coming up next year and knowing that he always wanted to have a JLC memovox, I've started to keep an eye open for a E855/ E875 as a gift for him. At the moment I'm trying to gather as much information on these references as possible and while doing my research, I came across this listing on ebay: https://www.ebay.de/itm/Jumbo-Autom...=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network I thought about bidding for it but came to the conclusion that I don't know enough about the model to feel comfortable spending my money on it. The listing states the watch is from 1968, which seems to the correct period for the applied metal triangle on the dial and the style of the hands (is that correct?). Overall I don't see anything wrong with the watch, except that it might have been polished in the past. What do you guys think about the watch? Compared to previously sold listings, the price seemed to be right as well. Is there anything in particular I should be careful with regarding these vintage memovoxes? Thanks for your help!
Was probably pretty nice before the seller decided to polish it up for sale. I'm sure that held the experienced bidders back from going higher. Notice that the top bidders all had low eBay feedback scores.
Yes, it has been polished a lot. It is the first one I see with a nearly identical dial layout to the one I have which was sold in April 1970:
Other than the polish, a very nice example. Went for quite a reasonable price IMO. Here’s an unpolished one... sold a while back to another forum member... https://omegaforums.net/threads/jaeger-lecoultre-memovox-reference-e855.94336/
Thanks a lot for your replies guys. I'll keep on searching for a nice example. It seems like there are quite a few of them being offered, so i hope I'll find one eventually. That's a great looking watch! congrats
