    Hi everyone,

Hope you're all having a good Saturday. I have a question regarding the Memomatic...when did the pilot style case first appear, and how long was it used? I read that Omega only made approximately 35,000 Memomatics in total, just curious what percentage were pilot style. Your thoughts are appreciated as always. Thanks very much. Take good care.

Hi. No expert but Omega Saga confirms that 35000 caliber 980 was supplied by Lemania.
The pilot / seamaster case was introduced from the start in 1970. No idea what would be the division between production numbers. Forum member @Monodec wrote a great essay on these a while back.
The pilot cases are not rare, but I tend to see other case styles more frequently for sale.
    Cheers!

According to AJTT the Memomatic line was launched in 1970. AJTT also lists the number of cal 980 movements produced at 35,000.
As far as how many Memomatics were actually produced and the numbers of the different variants- I am unaware of an accurate source for this information.

Hi Northernman, thanks much for the information, I read on a vintage site that the pilot version was only made for one year (1971) but that can't be right, I've seen them later than that. You mentioned that @Monodec wrote an essay on them, do you have a link you could send me, I'd like to see it. Thanks much.

    Hi Joe,

Forgive the question but what is AJTT? Thanks again for being so generous with your thoughts. Have a great weekend.
