I had a chance to buy the submariner new but I just can’t get over the maxi cases. They just don’t do
It for me, are they generally popular / preferred w buyers or is the pre maxi better regarded? Anyone think they revert back?

It is a fashion trend, but I think it will swing back the other way some time. However humans are getting much bigger on average, so who knows?

Maxi is here to stay Rolex is very slow to change and this case is only 8-10 years old so I wouldn’t expect a change

Didn't like my maxi when I bought it because I was into Nato straps which didn't quite suit the wide lugs. HOWEVER, wow what a bracelet. The case itself presents as more contemporary and solid which in fact is what it is and the vintage look can always be had with a vintage piece.

If you give it time, it may grow on you as it did with me.

I have never liked the maxi case, thus the only 6 digit serial I own is the 114270, which imo doesnt really count as it doesnt have those case changes.
