Hey guys, I have recently discovered the matte dial 16660 sea dweller - vintage lume, with modern styling and i think might cure by sub bug. What are your thoughts on this example I may be able to purchase? (which will then exhaust my watch purchasing funds for a while!) It looks all ok to me comparing to other examples I can find online, but do you think the lugs look thick? - I can never tell. Thanks, Edwin
Looks authentic, early Caseback too, nice. Is it located in Australia? If it's in Europe I will start to tell you lies about it
@kreyke My girlfriend says i spend too much time on eBay and our local classifieds! - i don't know what she means
Very nice, also early non "Original" texted caseback that is quite rare. These casebacks are usually only seen on very early trip 6's and you don't see them to often. I'd say pick that beauty up!
@EdtheAussie I wouldn’t automatically accept that the watch was “born” with this particular caseback, but it is possible. Do you have the serial number? Other than my lone concern, based on the pics, this 16660 looks like a good “buy” candidate.
The serial is 7.3million. I think if I can handle it I will go for it, just waiting to organize a viewing with the owner and then agree on the price.
@EdtheAussie Had the SN been over 7,5xx,xxx I would have been suspicious of this case back. But, at 7.3 mil I think it fits comfortably in the 16660 / 1665 overlap period wherein Rolex was simply using up all available inventory, as they are known to do.
So my watch buying funds are now gone . Was able to meet up with the seller and deal in person, and it also came with box, papers and a recent service (which are a major plus) I'll add some better photos in some natural light.
You need better lighting, it is making the lume look uneven in colour! You’re not doing the watch justice. Congrats on the successful hunt btw.
Thanks mate, Yea I definitely need some window sill shots with my DSLR, which i will get tomorrow hopefully.
