i have been eyeing this watch for quite sometime The Mathey Tissot chronograph is identical to a Heuer 2446C but the dial is similar to a Newman Daytona. Does anyone here knows about this particular watch?

My first encounter with this watch iwas from an acquaintance during a get together of watch collectors. It's beautiful and large at 40mm. The movement is a valjoux 72. Hardly do I see one for sale and the last one offered was in Germany which sold quickly. I am not so familiar with the Mathey Tissot brand but is it safe to say that in terms of collectivity and value, it can be compared to its look alike Heuer 2446C?

Appears to have to be a screw back case were as the 2446c is snap-back case. Also the lugs are more the style of the 2446 screw back case. Also appears to have Breitling style hands and a dial also modeled after the Breitling. With that said looks nice and has one of the best movements ever built, happy hunting!

Thanks for pointing out the difference. The screw back case makes it more desirable I guess.

More breitling then exotic dial (Newman) Daytona.

Mathey-Tissot isn't an expensive/collectible brand but then again they don't come in great numbers, as far as I know.

Then again this watch is really beautiful and is probably very sought after. Then again, almost all watches of this type with a Valjoux are appealing.

It is a beautiful watch and I just love the dial. Very eye catching.

I believe many other manufacturers used the same exact case (note the distinctive bezel serrations and beveled lugs), including:

    Breguet

Phillips is also selling a similar Mathey-Tissot next week.

Note that it has a later case design with squared lugs. Funny enough, Breguet and JLC both used that case as well.

I finally was able to buy a Mathey Tissot Val. 72 chronograph offered for sale at the WUS. In fact, it was featured by Hodinkee fortunately a day after we have concluded the sale. The seller said that when it came out on Hodinkee, he immediately received numerous calls and emails inquiring about the watch. I asked if Hodinkee contacted him about featuring the watch and he said that they never did. It could be that Hodinkee looks at nice vintage watches for sale on the internet and select the most interesting ones for a feature article . I will send photos of the watch when I get it by next week. Meanwhile, here is the link of the Hodinkee article on the Mathey Tissot that I bought.
