Spotted this Marine National for sale locally and wanted to post a few pics and get some feedback on authenticity, condition as I’m new to the wonderful world of Longines... it looks generally correct from the cursory research I’ve done. The wide serif fab.suisse dial and hands look correct and the case and back looks relatively unpolished. I also quite like the patina on the dial.

I wish someone would explain to me why the price is rarely offered on these evaluation threads. Is it a $100? is it $10,000? Price is one of the key components in an evaluation, isn't it? Why do so many contributors play it coy?

PS I am not a Longines guy but that watch looks great. I wish these types of watches came in 38mm. I would have a few.

Seems the going rate for these is in the range of 950ish on forums to 1700 at the likes of Hodinkee, quite a wide spread really...

Minute hand seems to be a bit to long, should end on the minute scale and hands overall look relumed, dial looks good and bezel could be polished, because of its glossy shine.
    Crown looks correct.

Know nothing about these but the buckle on the strap looks really nice, is it silver?

Minute hand is surely not original, I have doubts about the hours hand and obviously they both have been relumed. The seconds hand is good but oxydized, but that shouldn't be a "no-go" ;)

The case is in good condition, and (matter of tastes) I like the dial. For the price a very good one have been snagged by a OF member recently for a little more than 1000 euros.

Some are better informed about these on this forum.... @DirtyDozen12

Interesting anyway that a few came up for sale the past few months... Only 4000 produced, really? ::bleh::

And this dotation number have never been observed as far as I know... But it could match with the wide serif dial.

Ok, you have an idea of the market. What is the price of the watch you are asking an opinion on?
If the price is fair or below market, go buy it. If the price is higher than one would expect to pay, that may have an effect on the opinions offered here.

On the market at €870... think i´m going to pass... can´t be bothered with the hunt for correct hands and I know that minute hand would eventually bother me... if anyones interested it´s located just south of Alicante, Spain. https://spanishpawnbrokers.com/shop/watches/longines/longines-french-navy/
