Hi All

Is there a way to establish when my watch was produced?

Many thanks

Maybe. It depends on the watch. Which model is it? Do you have the serial number?

Sorry - Speedy 3861 SS. With the chrono fault.

I suppose I am trying to work out if my watch was one of the early batches that had the bushing fault...

The thing to do is to research the serials of other 3861 speedies. Omega serials no longer run purely in chronological order like they did once, but now they do run chronologically in discrete ranges, so a similar watch with a lower serial will be earlier. Maybe try to find serials for the effected watches and compare with yours. As a data point, the 3861s being delivered right now are running in 88.22m, or so I believe. Do you have dated papers? That will give you some idea how early it is.

Hi

Oh okay, I thought it might be a bit easier...

My 'watch no' starts - 84471xxx

I'm only trying to work this out as I have a fault that was identified 4 years ago, that my 7 month old speedy is exhibiting...

Prob just leave it to the AD, they can have the thing back and can work out whatever they want...

I might have a look thru the paper work later. Hopefully the AD will call and offer a replacement....

The SN tables I can find on google do not include numbers for this model, and one site said the watch was made in 2000, which is definitely wrong...

Thank you for contacting OMEGA Customer Care. Unfortunately, Omega do not hold the date of manufacture for your watch. The date we would use would be the date of purchase noted on the warranty card.
I can confirm, however, that this model was launched 25 June 2020 and is still in our current collection.

Don't hold the date of manufacture? Of course they do! What they mean is - we are not prepared to share it with you.

Oh well, it wouldn't make any difference, my watch is still buggered...

FWIW, here are my four 3861s. The date is when they were sold by the OB/AD
Aug 2019 82302xxx (no longer in collection, sold Mar 2022)
Jan 2022 83531xxx
Sep 2022 83705xxx
Aug 2024 88436xxx

None of these have ever given a lick of a problem, maybe I'm just lucky, or maybe the failure rate is pretty low.

I don't know of any maker who will tell you when the watch was fully assembled and tested. Sometimes they can hang around the factory or in the distribution pipeline for a long time (years).

Thanks for taking the time to post this.

Mine starts 844, so could possibly be circa 2023, but who knows!

I take your point about assembly and test date info not being shared... I can well imagine this is par for the course.

I will stop trying to understand the issues my watch is having and leave it to Southampton.

Thanks again.
