    Morning all

I wanted to get an urgent call out here and on as many forums as I can on behalf of Tony who owns thewatchcollector (www.thewatchcollector.co.uk)

Overnight last night their offices where broken in to and approximately 150 vintage Watches have been stolen, I will post a list of the pieces gone as soon as I can but wanted to get an immediate message out to the community.

    Thanks Tom

That's horrible. Were the watches in safes or out in the open?

All in safes, like all vintage watches it’s not the Loss (even though that is devastating) it’s the irreplacability of them......

That’s awful. I can’t even imagine what it’s like to have to catalogue that. What an invasion.

That’s terrible. I always feel that these could be inside jobs with a former employee or acquaintance who had been behind the counter in the store. Somebody knew the value of these watches (the average criminal will grab Rolex all day but doesn’t seek out vintage watches) and knew they could access a safe without disturbance.

Regardless I hope they’re recovered and hope they were insured.

It would be interesting to know how they got into the safes. The photo on Instagram looks like the place was ravaged by meth addicts, surprising that they had the sophistication to crack the safes.

    Sorry for Tony’s loss.

Devastating and heart-breaking ... please get a list out as soon as you can and we can see if anything is being offered to dealers.

Getting burgled and having your property stolen is is terrible. But if it’s a businesss and the watches were for sale, surely it is primarily about the loss as it’s his livelyhood. Hopefully he was fully insured and for the full asking prices.
And of course I hope no irreplaceable watches that were not for sale were stolen.
Either way its terrible and I hope the offenders are caught and the watches recovered.

That is super sad to hear. I hope that at the least, they were all insured. I know that some may never be able to be replaced and that's the real tragedy.

Having considerable experience with safes/ATM’s you cannot get in a safe(good one) with a hammer and chisel no matter how long you beat on it. With regular drills and tools it takes hours to get in a good one

Makes you wonder if it was an inside job or former employee...

Please post a list of the stolen goods asap, so we can all keep an eye out and try to spot these if they are trying to move them.

    That sucks!

    Noted, and awaiting the list.
Allready shared with every dealer I know and I will fast forward the list to them. The word is out. If someone tries to sell a bulk of watches without proper provenance the next days/weeks to them they will get in touch if they hear something!

    Cheers,

    Max
