So, I purchased this dial and handset for my Uni-Compax with a terrible redial (original noob mistake). But when I got it, I realized it is just way too much patina for me, and I simply wouldn't be happy with it. So I said the heck with it and decided to give it a clean. Lost a good deal of paint on the dial. Not that it was all there to start. I am still going to use it because well it is better than I what I have. Not entirely sure by how much...
Why not get this one reprinted by someone really good ? From memory there is a guy in Italy. Keep the original just in case you part with it in the future. Best of luck.
You know these UG Chronos have really grown on me. Especially the rose gold with a jumbo case. I think I am just going to be more patient and wait for a great example at the right price and start over again. In the meantime, I'll just wear this ugly thing, which is starting to grow on me a little (or I may just be convincing myself that).
What was your method? I'm thinking of cleaning my Certina DS-1 dial but don't want to strip the text on the dial.
The first photo show a very good ORIGINAL dial, i don't believe that's a redial. Cleaning made it worse IMO, lost a huge amount of text.
