Any fans? Owners? What do you think of Max Max Büsser’s more affordable creations?

“In June 2021, MB&F founder Maximilian Büsser presented a timepiece called the M.A.D.1: not an MB&F Machine but a more accessible timepiece developed under a different brand, M.A.D.Editions, linking it to the mechanical art universe that has been created with the M.A.D. Galleries.

The original M.A.D.1 launched in 2021 was recognisable thanks to its blue highlights; it was proposed exclusively to MB&F's suppliers, "the Friends", and to the members of "The Tribe", the brand's owners club. However, the general feedback to the M.A.D.1 was so overwhelmingly positive that Maximilian Büsser promised a follow-up version in 2022, available this time to a wider audience. The result was the M.A.D.1 RED. In 2023, the M.A.D.1 GREEN joined M.A.D.Editions' colourful series.

In 2024, Legendary French artist and designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac (JCC) turns his hand to watchmaking, becoming the first creator to collaborate on a M.A.D.1. The M.A.D.1 x JCC is limited to 999 pieces which half will be allocated to friends & tribe members of MB&F and the other half to the public through a raffle system.

Max Büsser also released a one off M.A.D.1 Pink for charity that sold for $172,000 USD and a 30 piece limited edition M.A.D. 1 GMT Milano for Great Masters of Time concept stores in Italy

I can see where you're coming from. Max's design language centers on driver watches that allow you to easily read the time with your hands on the wheel. I think it's pretty cool that it's become his signature and immediately recognizable as a MB&F. That's not easy to achieve, in my opinion. Plus, they make for great conversation pieces.

MB&F:

It's an MB&F for $3k. What's to hate

Other than I keep not getting lucky in the raffles

I had recently a MAD1 in hand, on my wrist... Not fan. The lugs are awful. It is not a cheap watch, however, that's what I felt.
In the meantime, I respect a lot the extravagant MBF other premium watches. I'm not sure that attack the market by the low side is a good strategy for MBF.

If you can afford one of these watches you can probably afford a car with a clock in the dash!
It will be easier to read quickly than these things……..you likely to end up decorating the scenery whist you thy and figure out the damned time!

I find having to go back to my car to tell the time to be very awkward.

Like I said though, they're an MB&F. Much like an RM, telling the time is almost optional.

I find whist I’m in the car I tend to use the clock that that car manufacturer thoughtfully provided, even though I’m wearing a watch….the watch comes in to it’s own once I leave the car…..the best of both worlds!

When does the time on your cell phone come into play?

Not all that often as I can’t be arsed fumbling about to get it out just to look at the time, much easier to use the watch

I fully appreciate the ingenuity and skill in making these things, just don’t want one or see the point of them
