I can usually detect fake watches of most makes, at arm's length, without much more than a "sniff" test. But I get the impression that detecting a Panerai fake from a real one, is not so easy! I know squat about real ones, it must be said. A friend has brought me a "Panerai" for some work. I haven't cast any doubt in his mind as to the possibility that it is not genuine. Don't want to offend him. What are the dead giveaways that a Panerai is not a real, one? Or are there others that are as much in th dark about these as I am? I suppose detecting a fake might be easier if you were able to compare a known genuine one from a suspected fake.
I was hoping to see some replies too. I don't think I would be able to spot a fake, I've barely seen them in person myself.
