I´m thinking about buying this old watch, but the "t" after the "swiss made" is missing, allthough there appears to be lume on the hands and hour markers, i have been loking at similar watches and they have the "t" if they have lume on the hands and markers. Could it be that lume has been applied somewhere along the road? This is the only pic i have (from the seller).
Some Omega watches with Tritium have a "t". Some don't. It's not necessarily a sign of a relume. There are a number of threads discussing it. https://omegaforums.net/threads/why-do-some-tritium-dials-have-no-ts.84066/ Older watches with Radium and newer ones with Superluminova lume never have a "t".
It's most likely tritium, from ~1963. Also see: https://omegaforums.net/threads/when-did-omega-stop-using-radium.86834/
That looks like a good unmessed-with De Ville with linen dial apparently perfect under crystal scratches that will polish out. If the back is ok, buy it!
i did, it looks a lot better in real life, the dial looks good and it has the original crystal and crown. I will post some pics as soon as i get a nice strap on it.
I got the crystal cleaned up a bit (might need a new as there are a few relatively deep scratches). Other wise the watch looks better than i expected (judging from the sellers pics). I think a black strap would be a good match, the strap on the photo is only a temporary one untill i can get a proper one.
I found a nice soft Hirsch strap, maybe i should have gone with an all black strap (lizzard or croc) instead of one with white stitches.
OK. It may just be me, but the lume on the hands looks much newer than the dial pips. The color is greener. (If the OF consensus is that the hands lume is "fine" I withdraw my objection)
Could very well be , who knows. What i noticed is that there is a bit lumen missing on the minute hand.
I think the lume on the hands is original. The colour difference between it and the dial isn't a problem. These components were probably supplied by different contractors anyway. The right person could fill the lume hole without it noticing which would not only look better but stabilise the remaining lume. Congratulations on acquiring a really nice watch with one of Omega's very finest movements!
Thank you very much. I think that i´ll leave the lume hole as it is for now, it does´nt really bother me, and it can only be seen with a loupe or on a high res pic.
I really liked it with the black strap(lizard looks really nice with these) - more of a dress watch, with the white stitching it looks less formal, more casual. Lovely dial on the watch. Thanks for sharing.
I will be getting a black strap, lizzard ( as you suggested ) or maybe a plain black one, and see how it looks.
