Does anyone know if it is possible to renew the lume on an Omega Seamaster and if so does it affect the price of a 1960's vintage model?

    Hi there,

It certainly is possible, and also affects the price from a collector's point of view. Most collectors want as original as possible and most can spot it a mile away.

If it's for your own enjoyment, then it's ultimately for you to decide.

You could search for 'sympathetic reluming' as well.

I'm sure more authoritative sources will chime in soon as well.

It is not possible to renew old lume. New material must be applied. By someone skilled or it will be a real disaster.

Even so, reluming a vintage watch will generally have a negative effect on its value. How much depends on rhe watch and the quality of the relume.

    :)

    Thank you for the replies.

I presume it is only worth returning it to Omega. Where's the best place to contact in the UK?
