Hey everyone!

After finally getting a mount for my phone I was able to capture my Daytona and my other watches in their fantastic glory both in low light and no light. I have been googling and searching for some individuals to show some of the differences on the lume on Rolex watches compared to Omega(Or just at all for that matter) with no luck, so with my LED flashlight in hand and a 4K I decided to get a pretty long video in.(Sucker was a whopping 42gig of media after everything was put together and uploaded to Youtube!)

Obviously this is my first proper review video and I understand that there will be some rough points, but I am open to suggestions as I hate going on scripts as I kind of feel like its not organic in regards to reactions and thoughts about it. Compared to writing here though as that is a different medium, that and I don't have the thousands of dollars to spend on video capturing and editing equipment.(I blame my watch and car addiction)

Still, I am open to suggestions if you have any!

Below you can find the video and the link to the video, I have marked chapters for you to skip along if you just want to watch the lume battle and see how they do,(To access this feature you need to actually go to the video on YouTube as they aren't featured on embedded links) but if you can muster to watch the entire 30 minutes I would greatly appreciate it! That and I suggest watching it in 4K!

I did watch the whole video, ok, I lied... I did fast forward a little during the review of the Daytona. The lume discussion was really interesting and I truly enjoyed the comparison between the Daytona lume and the Omega lume. I have never seen the DSOM and the Speedy Tuesday in all their luminescence glory... cool. Yes, it was too long, and I believe you could condense your discussion of the Daytona and it wouldn't hurt your review of the watch. It is a beautiful watch and you are obviously very happy with your purchase. Your voice is excellent and easy to follow. The photography was great considering you don't have a professional set up.

My only suggestion would be to try and keep your videos to less then 10 minutes. You may have to write an outline to help keep your presentation short. You did far better then I ever could in making a video. Congratulations and keep on rolling.

My personal thoughts on a gold Daytona. I once owned a white gold 16519 with a crocodile strap with arabic numerals and a white gold bezel. I always thought it was the most attractive gold Zenith Daytona ( probably because it looked like stainless steel). Yes, I eventually sold it for a stainless steel zenith Daytona and if I recall correctly, I sold the gold Daytona watch for about what I paid for it... 9,500USD.

Awesome! I’m glad you enjoyed the lume as that was my favorite part. I’ll definitely work on trimming it down as I hate to reintegrate what most have said about the watch, but I agree that it would need a little bit of a trim down.

I have no problem with people fast forwarding to the good stuff as I do this all for fun and not for the views, hopefully I’ll have something a little bit better coming later down the road with an outline to keep it on track. I do want to add a little more cooler lighting to the area to improve the fidelity of what it would look like in a regular environment.
But thanks for your help though!

Lol. That’s not a bad price though for a ST1. Not going to lie!

Serious question, why shake the flashlight when charging the lume? I ask because I do it too - realizing it as I watched your video.
Is it like Polaroid pictures? We all shake them but it literally does nothing to alter the process. A gesture that gives us mental comfort while we wait. To parallel, shaking the light makes it feel like we’re actively charging lume compared with passively shining a light at it.

Hahaha, the reason why I did as that the surface area of the LED is super powerful however not big. So what I do is I rotate it to make sure that all of the dial is properly flashed. Especially on the Apollo 8, if you look closely on the no light part of that contest you can see that I missed the bottom portion of the bezel as it is dark before the rest of the bezel and dial.

And yes it does feel good like stirring heated chocolate in a bowl.

😀

Would say and it looks fantastic paired with it, I went with the Snoopy one because of the white stitching and I actually use it while working. So I dont have to worry about scratching the sides compared to the nylon. 😀
