Was trawling the French forums earlier this week and stumbled upon this space compax ref 885104/01. Ok, I speak no French except for the odd Bonjour and Oui. But I recognised the seller to have the same username as a member here. Dropped the member a pm here checking if he was indeed the seller. I am happy to be in the right place at the right time and the watch arrived within the week. I am thrilled. Here are some pics.

I was not sure if the steel chrono is correct for a 1st execution although there was a thread here asking about the same steel hand on a 2nd execution. Appreciate Lou's help to confirm that the hand is correct. Thanks Lou!
Looking at what I have and a small sample of other space compaxes pics found in the forum, I have a small theory that there are 2 different variations of the 1st execution space compax.

The top two shows one variation with the steel chrono hand, non-lume 5 minute markers and pointed subdial hands. The bottom two shows the other variation with the red chrono hand with full lumed 5 minute markers and flat tipped subdial hands. It's just a theory and there may be more variations so show us your 1st execution space compax.
    Thanks for looking.

One helluva watch! Big congrats Gavin. You're a living example that luck is not coincidence as much as drive and hard work!

Super find and I like the theory. We'll test it against future examples and see if it holds up.

That is crazy, sourcing this one n France while Frenchmen are fishing abroad, we often miss obvious paths

The watch looks very nice to me wearing unquestionable UG parts, overall configuration looks correct to me.

We could scratch our head for years without being able to draw a satisfying conclusion about these differences, I personally came to the final feeling these belong to the family of watches that hadn't consistency in their parts configuration, there are others, I would gladly live with this one.

Clearly a great find, enjoy and good luck with the bracelet hunt !
