Anyone else have an old obscure watch? This was probably a dollar years ago at an estate sale. Still keeps good time. Need to find a 5/8 wide strap. Let's see some off brands.
The Lucerne name was used on jewellery and watches in Canada, by two firms. J. M. Warhaft in Montreal, and Lucerne Agencies Ltd., also of Montreal. Which one owned the copyright for the name as used on watches, I have no idea. But there is also a high probability that the Lucerne name has been used by many other firms, and in countries other than Canada. IIRC, the Hudson's Bay company in Canada at one time marketed Lucerne watches.
Lucerne seems to be a brand name used by a number of watch companies. Some were quality items, others not quite so. A couple of examples from eBay This one is on the lower end of the scale And then this one with a "Lucerne" brand Rare E GUBELIN LUCERNE Art Deco FOLDING POCKET WATCH 935 Silver TRAVEL CLOCK Fob
Just in case of some of you didn't know that yet: Lucerne is one of the bigger, very nice city in the Swiss-German speaking part of Switzerland, which explains why it might have been hard to get a copyright/trademark on its name. Here are some pics: In winter, when my family and I were celebrating new year's eve in a hotel (view from the bedroom): And another pic from Google, probably taken during summer:
Yeah lucerne was never a maker. Just a name several companies put on the dial. Was surprised to see a 17 jewel movement when I opened it up.
And $7 later I have spring pins and a cheap band. 32 mm case and 16 mm band is a bit small on my wrist. Maybe gift this to the daughter?
Nice! I have a cool off brand diver too. Conquest w/ pin lever mvmnt. Sent from Galaxy S6 Edge via Tapacrap
