Took a couple of months but I managed to track down an additional 3 stretch links for my 1039 that came with my 145.012-67SP. I've been dying to wear it but it was missing a few links and it was simply too small. So the links arrived today, installed them with no issues and reattached the 516 end links and the result is simply fantastic. I've had Oyster band envy for some time now and am feeling cured of the itch! I really don't understand why some people think the 1039 feels flimsy or cheap, I think it looks so classy and it wears beautifully...anyways a few pics below...glad I held out for extra links as opposed to buying a 1171 or dare I say it a 1450  nothing like a vintage speedy on a matching bracelet dated 4/68 ::love:: I think I fell in love all over again.

Indeed and paid through the nose for them, but it was 100% worth it. They were all in excellent shape too!

I had three that were lost in the mail. They finally showed up after I had placed what I thought was a winning max on these. I declined to bid further because I think I have what I need now. Yes I was shocked. Seller would not do a buy it now.

well feeling slight sheepish if I cost you some cash. Then again I think the seller was looking for a big number.

I couldn't agree more! I love the flat link bracelets, but if you've ever tried on a modern speedy, they have much heavier/bulkier bracelet that makes a flat link seem flimsy. Personally, I don't think it gets any classier than a pre moon on a flat link with a suit!

I agree completely, the flat link bracelet rules.

My 145.012 came on a 1116 which I believed was original to the watch, but I swapped it for a 1039 and it looks so much better in my opinion. The 1116 somehow had a too 'modern' look.

Heey that's not fair, you have lots of light in that 2nd photo that it looks so much better!
    ;)
Seriously though, I also used to like the flat link bracelets better than any other kind until recently. Now that I have a Speedy on a 1116, it started to grow in me, I actually reckon it has a more vintage look than the flat link (I still like the flat link better on the Speedmaster somehow)

Yes I agree with the sentiments on this thread @Don Bocadillo . I have my 105.012-65 on an 1171/633 bracelet. It looks good but I know the watch would look even cooler on a flat link bracelet.
Your watch looks very cool now Don.

I'm torn even though I can now build my 1039 to fit ... I like this CF strap on my watch.

I don't prefer it over the 1039 but I think it looks even more vintage than 1116.

On another note, I think the most "modern" looking bracelet Omega made is the 1039 et al flat link models.

I find it surprising that Omega superceded the flat link bracelets with so many other designs that did not come up to scratch.
I guess it's time they 're-issued' bracelet designs as well as watches.

I recently fell in love with it too. Received my first one just a while ago along with the 145.012. It wears and looks just so nice!
