I know this has been beaten to death, but this eBay listing really hit home for me this AM. A fellow member reached out to ask for my opinion on a Rolex GMT 16700 for sale on ebay. The minute I saw the first picture, I recognized the watch as I had handled it personally earlier in the year and had snapped a few pictures for my files.

Here is the link to the listing and pictures. You tell me what you see or can't see on the dial from the listing:

Here is the Serial # posted on eBay:

And here is what that dial really looks like the very instant you expose it to sunlight and handle in person:

Blemishes on the 9 marker from a relume.

Blemishes on the 11 & 12 marker from relume:

For prosperity....the actual serial matching eBay listing.

Needless to say, this watch was turned away upon close inspection and find it interesting to have resurfaced in Houston.

Happy hunting!

Would you think the dial has been restored in the mean time, or that it's just clever lighting? You should be able to see the blemishes around the 9 marker on some of the eBay pictures when you know they're there, right? Good on you to take those pictures.

No, it’s all about the lighting and angle which the pictures were taken. The dial was relumed quite poorly.

For prosperity....the actual serial matching eBay listing.

Apologies for being a pedant pain here, but the word you mean to use is “posterity” not “prosperity”, unless you mean that having the actual serial matching eBay listing will bring added wealth.

I’m posting this not to shame, but in the hope of being helpful.
