Loose seconds hand 1000 series

I have tried a lathe collet, pin vise, staking set, and good old tweezers. Nothing has worked! The sweep seconds hand is so short and fat I can’t grip it with anything to pinch it. The only thing that has made a difference is the staking set but only seems to make the bottom end of the tube tighter because as soon as I press it on the watch hand skips toward the gravity field but is not falling off the pinion anymore. I guess I will keep trying but was curious if anyone had any direction or advice on these old tubes on these movements. Thanks I am a newbie.
