I picked up this lovely little ladies sparkle Seamaster for my lady- it needs some work (relume & bezel rebrush) and a service (runs/stops) but should clean up beautifully.
She loves the idea of his/hers pairs, and I have always found the sparkle dialed Seamaster attractive. What was the reference for the men’s sparkle dial that matches this one (date only)?

Alright, I answered my own question with the help of google. The reference is 166.028/168.022 for chron or non-chron. Seems there were some variations with a brushed flat bezel like the one above, or a polished beveled bezel. Some have different dials, some different hands...ugh! I hate all the variations- it makes the hunt for a specific one harder...or challenging if you want to put a positive spin on it.

Web pics-

And then they had a variant with this lovely spiral dial 🥰🥰

I wonder if they also made that in a ladies version 🤦

This is how the game is played 😉
When I recently got my Sub, she asked if they made a ladies version of that one 😬...yeah, the Tudor mini-sub or lady-sub....Seamaster is easier to choke down a couples price.

I watched two get sold on eBay last week for a little less than a grand each. They are out there.

I see these pop up a lot too, but the demand is high, they fetch C-Case Constellation prices

What an adorable watch, your lady is lucky. Congrats on the find👍
What’s the size of the men’s version? I’ve always liked those but I prefer the sparkle dial to the one with the concentric circles.

Thanks Syrte! I don’t have to tell you, these ladies Omega’s are a steal. The men’s version is 36.5mm, the ladies around 28mm. The men’s versions seem to hover around $800-$1k (without bracelet), this one cost $150- with bracelet...and there is absolutely no difference in quality between them, just size.

I’ve noticed there seem to be more chronometer versions out there than not. I really don’t care about COCS so a regular one would be fine, without paying the premium.

I picked this 168.022 up right here on OF. I bought a BoR bracelet and I’m now waiting for the end links.

Thanks for the info, indeed that chunky little case is really attractive. My preferred watch size is 33mm but some of those ladies watches are just sometimes irresistible. @connieseamaster has a very nice ladies C-case Constellation which also makes them very tempting.

The rose gold capped versions of these are the ones that are a bit unique.

Sadly the “mid-sized” Seamaster 120 (at 31mm) could be had for $500 5 years ago...they have gone through the roof lately. I have the full size 37mm and it would have been nice to have that pair- I missed that boat.

Yeah, somehow they've shot up to $1k and I couldn't even give you a reason why. No Hodinkee article or anything 😵‍💫

If you and the lady are fans of mid-century modern mixed with a bit of 70s funk, you can probably find a matched pair of Geneve Dynamics for under $2k all in

That’s the thing- it’s 31mm! I get that it’s a baby 120, and the full sized ones are now pushing $3k, but that is just way too small for the form factor- and I wear small watches all the time! 34.5 mm is about as small as I can go for a bezeled diver.

I would keep an eye on the Japanese sellers on eBay. I have noticed that some of the nicest/cleanest ones often come from Japan and they usually will have some type of Omega strap. I bought mine, which was a chronometer with sparkle dial, last year and it came with an Omega mesh strap. I paid around $850 and it seemed worth it. The little COSC premium was offset by the addition of that mesh strap worth $150-200.
