Hi all! My brother in law just received this old watch that belonged to his long gone grandfather. I can’t see to find the same model online, any idea what it might be? It’s presumably from the late 40’/early 50’. It’s an automatic watch with applied logo and indexes. No lume, all black indexes. He of course wants to keep it and wear it but it will need good servicing first. It’s also mounted on an old, very probably non omega, stretch bracelet that fits it quite well. If someone knows what it is, and if it could be restored or at least shortened for a smaller wrist... Thanks for any help we can get and to OF for the space!
Looks like a reference 166.070, late 1960s-early 1970s. Many different dials were offered with this reference.
I concur, no earlier than 1968 I would say. The hands have lume plots which have darkened. The dial would normally also have lume if the hands do, I see some at 3, perhaps it was removed from the other indices.
Don't bother trying to do anything with that bracelet. It's not very nice and not worth anything. Junk it and put on a nice leather strap!
