Could anyone help identify Seamaster 167.073 ? My searches haven't yielded much at all. Fantastic forum by the way. Its this kind of independent support network that is going give people like me the confidence to continue being involved in vintage watches. And hopefully not to get my fingers burnt
I wouldn't worry too much about your fingers, what you need to watch out for is the smoke coming from your back pocket where your wallet sits! I'm sure someone here will eventually point you in the right direction regarding the 167.073...
sorry, I should be clearer on what I am asking / doing particularly as I have posted on this as you rightly point out. I am new to forums in general and hope you will bear with me as I learn ; On Saturday, I purchased the watch pictured in my post. It is currently on my wrist. I did so on the spur of the moment (demonstrating my exceptional watch buying skills...). I had seen a 120 Deep Blue before and had loved it on my wrist, so when this one came up I went for it. I had had a chance to have a good look at the watch physically and felt that it was in order...(in my judgement). I had a question mark over the hand lume and whether original but felt it was or that it was very well re-lumed if not. A kind member also made reference to the hand lume but was unsure. The one thing I didn't pay attention to was the model number. On researching (after purchase of course), all references to the 120 Deep Blue were for the 166.073 . I found nothing other than the model I had purchased with the reference 167.073 which seems a little strange. I am looking for any help on identifying the model no. ? Would be genuinely grateful for any info. from the many Omega experts out there. (can only get good photo shots this weekend - can do more iPhone shots if it helps).
OK! nice buy, no problem asking and learning. First questions : does it glow in the dark, is the dial marked "T SWISS MADE T" at 6 o'clock
Thanks. Your picture is not goof enough to tell a lot but the lume should be more "yellowish". Either you came uppon a rare un unused one or the lume was redone quite finely. The lume that looks original is the one of the seconds hand.
Thanks. Are you referring to the min / hr hand lume (should be more yellowish) or both hands and dial ?
the ideal thing is when they match, that is to say that the markers and hands have excatly the same color. I was talking about the lume of the second hand that looks more brownish than the others. What is odd on yours is that the hour and minutes hands look new, but a dial marked double T or tritium can be new.
X350 XJR - should be able to get iPhone pic of case back up shortly....can't open case back where I am.
the thing that got me with the hands is that if they are re-lumed, why would the second hand be different. Surely all 3 would be done. The shade of the hands I would say is very slightly lighter / less yellow than the dial but very similar. I've seen photos of new dials (NOS) and the lume seems very light (not yellow at all) - closer to the colour of the hands on this watch. So, my thinking was that the hands could still be original (if not the lume is done very well !). The odd thing is, why is the second hand different...
Well, one don't know how people think. One possiblitiy : the hours and minutes hands were really more damaged than the seconds hand. As the sruface of the lume is bigger it is more fragile. So he only changed these ones. For the dial it's stranger.
