Hmm, a cal 601 handwind, a movement with a rep for robustness, on a simple, formerly black dial that has aged very nicely by the look of it. Nice chunky markers.

Thanks for that, Perhaps not the best picture
Thanks for that, it is a lovely watch. My pictures aren't the best. the dial is covered in tiny gold flecks which leads me to think it is deliberate, here is a close up, quite a textured finish also

Is that a spatter paint finish?

No. I think it is truck bed-liner coating. Or the flake paint you put on your garage floor.

it looks like it, although I have just read the thread on black dials and the patina they develop which is similar so perhaps it is patina.

My guess is that it is a redial. Far to consistent to be patina.

The tiny gold flecks are the base metal of the dial. This is a well known phenomenon. Was, as I said, originally a black dial. This even patination is not all that uncommon in black dials. No apparent water damage, just sun and the passage of time

Thanks for that, I am in agreement with you, I've had a good look under the magnifier and cant see any indications of anything other than your observation. I love the condition and feel it adds to the watch which btw runs to time and looks great.
as an aside I was lucky enough to pick this watch up at auction for £45.00 ( around 60USD ) a year agoso very pleased..
