Hi , Thanks for letting me join, Ive been asked by a friend whos not big on he internet if i can find some info on an old omega Geneve he got given, its not working , the hands are bent ? and id say its in very poor condition , The back did get popped off and the serial number is as follows 27776389 , and then a 601 which Im assuming is the movement ?
from a quick google im guessing its a 1968 watch , but i cant seem to find any pics matching for any more info.
BIG question is , is it worth anything in the condition its in ?
Thanks for any info or advise you can give.

The number on the inside of the case back is the reference number - a Google search of the reference number will give you more info about the watch. In its current state, the watch is worth less than $100 IMO.

Since your friend already owns the watch...

    - whatever happened to the hands (pitbulls maybe?) might be continued on in the movement
    - new hands will be needed :whistling:
    - service will be needed
    - the dial is damaged, and though the pictures are not great, it likely would not be considered "patina"
    - someone (the pitbull's owner?) damaged the case trying to open it. Can the case seal well enough to keep dust and water out

If I found this watch (say I saw it flying out the side of my lawnmower and went to pick it up), I would take it to my watchmaker, along with a bottle of wine to thank him, and see what hope it had in running again. Then, well, would that price be worth it. I would guess $250 CDN for service and hands if all else goes extremely well? I do not think there is any sense in doing anything about the dial. Then you will need a new strap, a equally rustic looking strap like the one below from FinStraps https://www.finwatchstraps.com/collections/vintage-suede-watch-bands might make the whole wabi sabi look come together. But then the question is, do you want to invest $300 - $350 plus on this.

I’m digging those straps! I may have to pick some up.

I haven’t had the good fortune to handle one yet. They were featured in Fratello recently, and were burned into my retina because they look so damn good
