    Dear community,
I have been looking for a vintage Omega watch for months, a Omega Seamaster 300 used by the Royal Navy from the 1960' and 1970's. Below I added a picture how it should look like.
It is for me one of the most beautiful watches that has ever been build.
Hopefully I am getting a reply from somebody, Tim.

Good luck with that one unless you are prepared to throw a considerable sum of money at one. People spend years tracking down acceptable examples of the civilian version (I took 18 months to find mine, starting the better part of 4 years ago)

This is one of the most faked Omega models and a military issued one is not something to approach without very serious research.

You could do worse than joining the Military Watch Resource forum and asking there.

Good luck with your search but tread very carefully or you will get stung.

You need to have good contacts, deep pockets or be very lucky.
Easier to find a Milsub than one of these right now.
A cracker was found by a well known UK/Aus dealer only yesterday, posted on his IG feed.
This is mine and it is not for sale, sorry. FullSizeRender.jpg

The last good one I saw at auction (a w10 i with trapezoid 12), sold for £25k GBP to a UK collector from NYC.
It has accordingly moved asking prices up, Jedly1 bought a cracker a few days ago but I don't know what he paid.
I'd say £20k asking for anything decent (good case, T dial)

There's one at the Bonham auction later this month... Nice and correct W10 ... With the usual low estimate. This one will go high, very high.... IMO near the £30k mark plus fees.

I certainly agree that they are not equivalent - I just came across it, and thought I would post it here. Currently the bid is €2.800 - way more than I would personally pay for it.

The question I have is, how many of them existed originally? As I recall, the Seamaster had a comparatively short tenure as a Royal Navy watch. In fact, I've always been curious how popular the Seamaster was as a dive watch. I started diving in the 70's, and never encountered one. Ever. Rolex/Tudor, Seiko, Doxa and a dozen diveshop special watches, absolutely. But no Omegas. Now, people seem to think the Seamaster 300 was some sort of legendary diving icon. Where? If it was popular, they should be as common as vintage subs. On the military side, if it was a staple for service divers, where are they all now?

I believe the original naiad crowns were a disaster, leaking at shallow depths, not enough pressure to seal them.
They were converted to a screw down crown, hence the /A case back engraving.
Possibly by that time they had been superseded by the better designed Rolex Submariner and fell out of favour?
