Looking at a datejust, but unsure of this dial.

For the experts in here, is this dial original? I've been told it is, but it looks to be a little too perfect for a '69.

Date-Justs with gold bezels that have had a lot of wear over decades, often have the fluted decoration on the gold bezel looking worn. The flutes on the bezel of the subject watch are sharp and crisp, and hardly show any wear. I think the watch has been worn respectfully, and probably not full time. So when an exposed part is in such good shape, I would think the dial would likewise appear as new. Looks good to me. Also, the bracelet is an earlier version of the Jubilee bracelet, not the modern Geneva model. These bracelets with the gold centre links often look worn and stretched when they are older. The one on the watch looks good.

Agree. The Oyster case in vintage Rolexes tends to keep the dial/hands in better shape compared to cases that aren't so moisture-proof. Nice-looking watch.

I believe the bracelet is a replacement with solid steel links, IMO.
The dial is period correct, though one could expect some kind of patina.
It looks like a nice set.

Looks good. Rolex's of that era made for North America had USA made bracelets with 14kt center links, and they were prone to stretching. My wife and I both had DJ's like this from 1976/77, shortly after that they switched to Swiss Made 18kt links along with sapphire crystals.

Whilst it is correct for the year i think that looks like it has a service replacement dial and hands set.

Steel dials are a little more robust but gold of that era if original would almost certainly have some tarnishing and the lume plots would most likely have some discolouration collected around the plots.

Does it have service records? I'd say that was serviced and replaced in the 90's.

Absolutely nothing wrong with it or the watch. It's a nice example. I would assess bracelet stretch.

I think it looks spot on. My ‘78 OPD is in about the same shape with lume color alomost identical. I find it a sad statement when a watch has been well cared for we immediately get suspicious. I think this a great example of what they should look like.

It’s hard to tell by the photos but the hands look a little rough.

It's not obviously not correct by any means. A little perfect but maybe it's just ... perfect?

I think those scratches are on the acrylic- easily buffed out. Would need to see pics from other angles of course.

@bryanmanio Where are you?

No sign of the OP in more than two weeks. I guess we're not going to hear the outcome of this.

Well, he’s been around for a while, maybe we’ll find out eventually.
