·All,
I am selling my Wittnauer-Longines Weems Second Setting Watch because it is simply too big for my wrist. Please see my write-up here:
http://omegaforums.net/threads/new-arrival-longines-wittnauer-weems-second-setting-watch.15278/
I have added many more pictures from all angles here:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/93759964@N03/sets/72157646089167526/
Please download and zoom in to see the dial.
My assessment of the watch:
The Good:
1. All serial#'s match (case back, dustcover and movement)
2. First (A3) series
3. Rarer silver (not stainless steel) version
4. As per the pics in superior overall condition relative to comparables
5. Second setting works and does not jam
6. The watch winds and runs properly
The Bad:
1. Hairline near 11
2. Small round black stain(?) above 20 on central second setting circle
3. The hour hand tip is touching the dial and there is a shallow scrape between 3 and 6 where the tip touched the dial
4. Needs to be serviced if to be used regularly including fixing the hour hand (easy fix by a reputable watchmaker)
Regarding 3., the scrape is very shallow and faint and difficult to see in real life unless you look for it. It looks more significant in the pictures than in real life.
For those interested to purchase I will forward an email I received from Longines Brand Heritage Museum Curator confirming the serial number and shipment to Longines-Wittnauer Co. in New York in 1935.
Price is $7,950 + shipping via bank transfer or Paypal (+pp fees).
I have and will provide excellent references from Omegaforums, TZ-UK, OnthDash, and WUS.
Please note that due to time zone differences I may be slow to respond.
Best Regards,
George from Tokyo
