Longines Weems Originality Check: Real or Redial?

Hi. I am a first time poster. I would be grateful for some general thoughts on this Weems watch that I have recently acquired. I say recently, I haven’t even received it yet. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Well, it's missing the bezel first off. That may be difficult to source. The dial looks okay to me. I'm not sure about the hands, but I'm far from an expert on these. Let's page @Seiji Lépine and get his opinion.

Well, not sure you want to hear the initial thoughts. Well, missing bezel, dial in a completely wrong style, wrong hands, wrong crowns. So far I haven't seen one thing correct on this watch. Send it back for a refund.

Not sure it is a Weems, there is no groove where a bezel would fit. Not delivered yet so I guess I will wait till it’s in my hands. It was cheap.

The hands are Cathedral hands as fitted to WW2 military variants. It also transpires that during this period Longines produced military watches in weems cases. These were no adjustable as they did not have bezels. Thoughts?

My thoughts are, you should read and trust what you have been told. Welcome to the forum, it's a place to share, learn and enjoy.

There were only two kinds made in 1940 and 1941. They were the A-11 watches

Your watch has many problems with originality. It is not a military Weems.

I have one of the largest collection of Military Weems.
My watches have been published in many reference books and a few magazines. I am familiar with Longines Weems . I might even have the most published collection of Weems.

Wow! Can't compete with that, possibly no one can. I once owned a 34mm Longines Weems that was issued to the Royal Air Force in the UK. Unfortunately long gone now.

The RAF 6B/159 VIIB is ironically the only one I believe I am missing as I am looking for an Goldsmith & Silversmith Air Ministry version with a Certificate of Origin from Longines.

Not looking to rub salt in the wound but I wrote to Longines at the time and they provided an extract, free of charge. This would be around 2010/11
I auctioned it on Ebay a year or so later and it was sold to a doctor in Germany. I was new to watches then and my father, an antique dealer came home with it and I instantly loved it and bought it from him. Without doubt, my biggest watch selling regret.

Actually Seiji, the bezel locking crown looks fine to me - but I concur with the rest of your assessment.

The handset interestingly looks like it’s been transplanted from a non-Longines ordinance watch from the WWII era, eg Hamilton or what not.
The dial’s been refinished.
Unfortunately indeed, most is incorrect on this watch.
