Hello, I want to share with you my newly acquired Longines and the small journey I made to reach watch and seller (OF member).
Lots of pictures and I will try to keep text to a minimum ;)

Travelling from a small town in Denmark to Gothenborg in Sweden. 543km back and fourth in 1 day, should be possible:thumbsup:

    IMG_0464.JPG Enjoying the sunrise. IMG_0468.JPG
At this point I was on the train, and I realised that because of some railroad failure I was going to miss the boat by an inch...

It all came down to the last 5 minutes so I really had to make a run for it. Still being young of age went for it in my fat and warm wintercoat.

Aaaand: arrival.. Barely made it, lungs jumping out of my chest::puke::

Arriving to Gothenborg, what an absolutely beautiful city! I love the rocky grounds leading into the city ::love::

We did not have much time, but a little GTG was not out of the way :D
I had to get back on board the same ferry.

IMG_0491.JPG IMG_0492.JPG IMG_0494.JPG Sunset aboard.. Spend most of the time on the deck :)
IMG_0496.JPG IMG_0497.JPG IMG_0498.JPG Returning to my home near the train station an hour past midnight or so.
IMG_0500.JPG The newly bought watch getting restrapped on a Longines lizard with orignal buckle ;)

Thanks to OF for this great forum and to the Omegaforum member for the chance to get my hands on another stunning watch :thumbsup:

    Hope you enjoyed reading/looking ;)

Heckuva ride! Congratulations on the pickups.

I don't know much about the Heuer but the Longines looks great

    Thank you.
Making this trip made the watch so much more valuable and fun to me!

You lost me making your run to the boat. I'm huffing and puffing, leaning against a wall somewhere behind.

    Great photos!

Very nice 23ZDS! That's not a common caliber at all.

I was tasting blood in my mouth, I promise ;)
Did some searching around the net and I did not find many of this version. It is indeed an odd one when you are used to see the date placed @ 3 o'clock.

What a day...and the story makes the watch that much better. I haven't pulled the trigger on any vintage yet but it's coming. I love the classic and clean look of those old connies, seamasters and longines.

The watch is quite lovely but the thread really goes to show that what counts is the journey, not the destination...

Vintage is more special IMO. Like buying a Limited edition with a story and everything ;)
I agree, to some point. You would not go if there is no watch waiting for you in the end. The journey is an addition to a watch, and makes it much more personale in the end.

What a wonderful journey, with quite a happy ending... thanks for taking us there with you!

My Longines collection still lacks a cal. 23ZSD, so I would make a journey like that to get one in a 'heart-beat'!! ::love::

I was actually sitting with some friends on this cafe, watching the ferry coming in :)

It was a pleasure to meet you Sebastian. It´s a marvelous dedication you´re showing, making such a travel just to collect a watch! Luckily the weather was very good.

Reminds me when I drove 800 km in one day to collect a Railmaster.....

The pleasure was mine ;) if my Swedish is somewhat correct I guess it says 'Hall of Art' or something. I must really revisit Gothenborg!
Did you go 800km by train?::rimshot::
