I just saw some pictures of this and thought it looked awesome, not sure why it takes Hodinkee getting involved to prompt them to dig into their back catalog and release something this cool but I'm glad it happened.

Yep, thought they did a nice job -- and the market seems to agree, sold out in under a day.

They released the sector dial a couple of years ago didn’t they?

what’s actually new about this version?

No decapitated “6” is a great improvement imo.

I grabbed one. Have nearly bought the Sector a few times on trips abroad and it's not an easy watch to find here in Canada, where it generally goes for full list and quickly, based on my multiple attempts to order from ADs, and the black dial on bracelet is hen's teeth here.

This was a slight premium over list for what is IMO a usefully cleaner dial, updated movement (from the one I looked at in a shop this summer) with a longer PR and Si components, COSC and the strap twofer and a 6-year warranty.

Will see how it looks in the metal but I really like this slight twist on one of my favourite Longines Heritage releases.

Some nice office-hipster pix in this roundup:

    Sigh.

Not surprised, I guess, but he might have waited the full day.

After a couple weeks with the Longines x HODINKEE, still really love the dial (the taupe/cream and sector look so great and person). Definitely wears like a modern watch which isn't necessarily a bad thing but am still wishing it were 36-37mm and about 3 mm slimmer... But it is overall extremely versatile and a super accessible way to enjoy a great sector dial!
