Didn't see a thread for this (apologies if there's one already). Lovely watch, if a little large. Here's Hodinkee's take, and another link below from WatchTime:

As the name says, the Heritage Military 1938 lands in Longines' popular Heritage series. A number of modern interpretations of historic Longines military watches have been released in the series, notably the 1945 and the aptly named Military – with much fanfare. It's evident that Longines has paid special attention to getting the details right when it comes to the Heritage series; a large part of the brand's success over the last century was built by a particular specialization in military and aerial navigation watches.

Would’ve been perfect for not the 43mm size. C’mon, Longines!

In this case, the size is historically accurate. Caliber 17.26 pieces were very large!

I think also with all that negative space on the dial and relatively thin bezel it’ll wear big for 43mm. The design otherwise is great!

Jeez, if they’d done that in the same case as the military watch I’d already have one!

That is a beautiful piece, unfortunately the size is too big and chunky for my puny wrists. Overall the esthetics are 10/10. Bravo.

I think that's lovely, and a manual wind too which makes a nice change for Longines. They're really on the ball lately with their heritage models.

Yep. I love my new BigEye, but wouldn't want to go any bigger than that door a watch that's nearly all dial. Still a beautiful piece and, in its way, quite a risky design, and would consider at 40mm or just below.

Not sure if I misread, but I swear someone said that the original was 43mm too.

I did see the prototype. It is big yes. The nicest thing is the dial which looked really beautiful, glossy black galvanized with a good cream color of the luminous. My crtitic is: hands are a bit massive...
It is limited and numbered (on back) to 1938 pieces worldwide. So the early orders might get the low numbers. Movement doesn't look too bad as well for a "modern" watch.
Here pictures of the back and of the movement:

Agree it’s a nice movement for a modern reedition, thanks for posting it.
It looks quite faithful to the spirit of vintage. Very smart to have used a pocket watch movement, are pocket watches still being manufactured or did they bring one back from retirement?
That would be quite interesting too.
What would be really cool is if they brought back some of the iconic Longines manufacture movements in their reeditions but of course they would have to retain vintage sizes for the watches.

But this will never happen, because all Vintage tools and machinery has been destroyed in oder to force to buy their recent movements at ETA... for sure the past will not come back and it would be much to expensive to construct again a 13.33, 13zn or 30CH - at least for LONGINES...

    Initial thoughts:
Very nicely made. The best is the dial! Hands are a bit too shiny and color of luminous of dial and hands is slightly different.
It is a massive big watch and I have a small wrist!
No good wrist shot now as it is already dark here. But I show you a bad wrist shot when I tried the prototype. I m curious to see how fast they sell their 1938 pieces...

Very nice. Anybody know whether they've got a re-issue of the Czech military (Majetek) piece in the works? Seems like that would be a fairly logical move, and it's quite a bit "different" from their other re-issues from the same era.
