    Hi all,

Just purchased a Canon DSLR from a friend and was trying it out over the weekend. Quite happy with the results! IMG_7283.jpg IMG_7290.jpg IMG_7295.jpg

Good stuff! Are you using a macro lens?

Thanks guys! Was using an 18-55 mm, so not a macro lens, but thinking of getting a macro lens soon!

Nice watch, nice photos, and nice band! What is the brand of the band (sorry for the rhyme ;-). Btw, you know that the crown is incorrect, yes? That is a Longines Conquest crown for the cal. 19A and 19AS series, not the cal. 290 series. In fact, they are typically threaded differently, and I do not understand how you even got it to stay on this watch.

The band is a Cola Reb. And yes, I know the crown is a replacement. Most Longines Conquests Cal 290s that I've seen have had their crowns replaced (unfortunately). It's rare to find one with its original scalloped crown. Apparently they would always get caught on clothing, so it was commonplace in the day to replace them with the crowns from the 19AS Conquests, as you mentioned.

Yes, I own some examples that have the scalloped crowns. (I will post some photos of mine when I get back home, but here is one on the sales forum: https://omegaforums.net/threads/stainless-steel-longines-conquest-power-reserve-calibre-294.83896/) I believe the story that they get caught on clothing started as a purely speculative comment on one of these watch blogs, which I read a couple of years ago, and I do not think it is true. I wear my watches with these crowns often and they have never caught on my clothing. The original comment even claimed that the clothing pulled the crown right off the watches, which seems impossible. No, the problem with these crowns is that they hurt your finger to wind them! Their rarity just makes them more desirable to collectors. They are also beautiful.
