Hi all, i am new on this forum and hope the post wouldn't be duplicate...it seems not but we never know! I own some Omega (Speedmaster 105.012, Constellation Pie Pan, Seamaster 2848) and also a Longines Hydroconquest (from 2011...I like this watch as perfect tool watch!) Recently i discovered that Longines has produced 36000bph movement (as 431), did someone own one and could give his opinion on accuracy, reliability and on the self winding rotor (I have heard is not really good one) and of course pictures!!!
They did produce the Ultra-Chron, as it was known, for about 9 years. I don't have one and have no real opinion on it. But the El Primero is (the only?) a 36,000BPH chronograph and is by far the most famous watch that Zenith has produced. You may be aware of this and were really only asking about the 431.
Yeah absolutely!! I like the Longines watches so i would like to have in collection a Conquest and why not a 36000. Zenith is a nice brand but not attractive to me (except the A386 which is a grail!!). I was also thinking of Seiko KS but not really convinced. The Ultra Chron from end of 60's (with a 431) are my target for now
FYI @cristit has a 36000 for sale, not the Ultra Chron though. https://omegaforums.net/threads/longines-conquest-36000.40365/#post-480738
Plenty of 431 owners here - I have 3 in fact. All seems to work fine and servicing doesn't cost a bomb in spite of claims that due to the movement operating at a hi-beat, special lubrication care is required. The first solid 18k cased is available in the FS sub forum if you're interested.
Hold out for an Ultra Chron Chronometer: You'll be glad you did. Here's a nice one in steel. https://www.ebay.com/itm/361534336660Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network They're looking for offers. gatorcpa
Black dial ans gold is beauty!!! I am trying to benchmark a little, i truly hesitate with a Polerouter so... I read that the self winding is not very efficient on these watch, did you noticed that?
I saw it, but i am more in classic round shape for now (taste evolve quickly, i recently accepted the idea that a 18k gold watch is wearable!! ) Yours is a nice watch BTW
I sold that version to a member here. In less than a 3 months I hunted down another because it fit me so well. Now, I've made flips I regretted and eventually bought the same model of (i.e. Centenary 2500), but never in under a year. C-cases are C-licious!
The UC Chronometers did not come in a "standard" round case, AFAIK. It's worth the extra premium. You only go 'round once. gatorcpa
*One caveat - you could get an Ultra-Chron Chronometer Flagship in a standard round case with regular lugs.
It's not chronometer certified like the ones Gator posted. I'd say it makes a difference in want-ability
D - You got a picture of that beastie? Or do you mean a Flagship Chronometer with a high beat cal. 431 or 6651? Edit - I found a picture: gatorcpa
