    Good afternoon everyone,

First let me apologize, I don't know anything about Longines watches (and not much about watches but I'm learning). I know that a lot of people here get annoyed because us newbies ask too many questions and don't offer anything in return. Therefore I apologize. Read no further if you don't want to help. If you're curious read on.

I was at my watchmakers on thursday and we started talking about watches. He mentioned how "easy" it was to get vintage watches here since a lot of people will let them go when they start running into problems. It's cheaper to get a new watch then to fix an old one... to make his point he took out a nice gold Longines (which I believe is a 30CH) and says that the owner did not want to pay for the repairs because he could get a new Longines for cheaper. I didn't think much about it at the time but as the week progressed I couldn't get that watch out of my head.

Anyways I went back today hoping that the customer had not picked it up just yet left a note asking him to call me if ever he wanted to sell it. And I took some pictures but only one gave anything interesting. Too much reflection and I felt like I was invading his private property but at the same time I don't want this watch to end up in a pawn shop or melted for gold. I'm sure someone here would really appreciated it!

    Now my questions :

    1) Is this a 30CH
    2) Crown is signed, dial looks in pretty good shape except for a bubble at 10:30 (17 on the telemetre) but is it original and what about the hands?

Thanks for reading and for any help.

It's a Longines ref. 7414 with 30CH; dial and handset are indeed original.
Nice watch, customer who left it a fool.

So you think it's worth the 2000 swiss francs I will need to spend on it?

Does the 2000 include the watch? IMHO very much so, in todays market all gold 30CH look to be valued over 5000. I haven't owned one of these in years so this forum search will help as well as google search.

Yes the 2000 would include the watch and the repairs. Fingers crossed that I can save this beauty from the becoming a gold bar.

    Buy it now!
I'm curious as to what other ones he has in store. And would, of course, like his contact details!

I need to wait for the watchmaker to talk to the watch owner.
Very nice Longines, also a 30CH?
I believe he just had the one. But I'm sure he's seen many more. The watchmaker in question is quite young (mid-30s), had a 69 Speedmaster on his left wrist and a Bell n Ross on his right. Told me he found his Speedmaster for 500 francs. If he's on this forum he will probably keep the watch for himself. Well at least it will not be melted.

No, it's a 13zn-12, a center minute chrono that is the envy of most collectors.

It's possible to get Vintage Longines repaired? Spare parts are still available?

Yes, amazing and probably the most expensive Longines-wristwatch (except tre tacche black dial or single pieces like the "siderograph") --- if the dial is original. Mine are not; poor mans 13ZN12.

As my grandmother used to say, "One man's poor mans 13zn12 is another's treasure."
