Hi All, Hope you are having a great time. I do not have any expertise at all in vintage Longines (and vintage watches in general) but yesterday I came across this 1953, 33mm, 10K filled model fitted with a 19A caliber that I felt in love with. The dial seems to be in great, original conditions. The case does not seem to be polished (or over-polished ?), and is in good shape. And finally, the movement seems also to be very clean, from what I can see. I would like to ask for the opinions of you experienced members regarding this piece (please see pictures below). More specifically: a) Could you please confirm that this watch doesn't have any major issues that I have missed? b) Is the unsigned crown original to the watch? I have seen other examples with marked crowns; c) And finally, how would you price this piece? I've seen other models in worst conditions getting sold for around £150. Thank you very much and have a great Sunday! K.
No way to tell if the are mechanical issues or not from internet photos. Cosmetics look fine to me. This is an early cal. 19A piece, unsigned crowns probably correct. Factory replacements could have been signed. So either is possible. I would grab this at £150. gatorcpa
Good-looking piece. Love those early, angular lugs! If the smallish size doesn't bother you, go for it. A clean-looking movement is a plus, but like gatorcpa said, it doesn't r/o mechanical issues, or a lack of lubricant. Assuming good running condition, I would like this one at that price, or a little higher...
Thank you very much both @gatorcpa and @dougiedude for the quick and exhaustive replies! At the end I decided not to go for it because the price levitated to £270 and I was not sure about the purchase anymore. At least I am happy about the fact that I was able to recognise a honest vintage piece. Thanks Omega Forum community! K.
