Hello,

First time poster, but long time lurker. Thanks for all the expertise on this forum.

I'm a fan of 1940s Longines. I know this is a redial, but am interested if Longines ever made a watch with this black dial (or similar). The serial number dates to 1948.

The new Longines 1945 Heritage is based on a watch with a reminiscent numeral/dot pattern, but of course it isn't black and has other distinctions. https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/longines-heritage-1945-inspiration-hands-on

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Welcome to the forum.

Off the top of my head, I do not recall seeing a black Longines dial, in the style seen above, with "perlage". I do have a memory of later, 1950s dials with perlage but the overall design was very different.

Interesting that no 1940s black dial military style Longines appear to have "perlage." Thanks, that's exactly what I was curious about. Perhaps not too surprising, as it's uncommon even in the non-black dials. However, I thought there might be an exception or two.

I asked Longines for an archives extract, and will upload it here when I receive it. I find it amazing that they offer that service, let alone free of charge.

Here's the information I received from Longines. It appears the case and movement are a match. I also sent them a follow-up inquiry asking if Longines ever produced a black dial watch in this style during the 1940s. You never know, they might dig something up 😀
