Hi, It runs but date doesn't change, Is it worth spending money on?. Or should I just put it in local general auction/sale?. Thanks,
If it's an heirloom, it's ALWAYS worth servicing. Don't mess with it because it might be filthy inside if it hasn't seen a watchmaker in a long time. You're hurting the mechanism running it without a cleaning and lubrication. It's probably got a caliber 343 or 345 judging by the relatively large size of the date window. Mid-60's most likely.
It would be best to keep the box with the watch. It would need to be serviced to rectify the date wheel issue or just put it up for sale with a full description.
