Looks like it was a good deal for the buyer even with the replaced bezel and hands

I think so, too. Even though I expressed disinterest in an earlier thread because of the bezel and hands, I studied it and decided it was okay for less than $2,900.

So I threw some lucky 8's in the bid and ended up with the highest bid. Funny thing is, the under bidder was so close that my bid didn't meet the next increment. Well, I guess it's not funny for the under bidder...

This fits a desire to have a less-than-perfect Speedy to wear on holiday, etc. (unless I am beach-bound!) Not that my other Speedies are mint, but they're right, so I'd hate to ding a dot-over-90 bezel entertaining my 5-year old daughter while waiting in line at Disneyland.

On the other hand, I could use a DO90 bezel right about now. Any leads?

I think the kid cost himself a few $k by not running this as a straight auction......

Good heavens, you could get more for that selling it out of your coat pocket to random passerby on a streetcorner

So did I? What do you see that suggests it was a BIN?
IIRC, it was a straight auction. My max bid won the auction by being higher (but not by a full $50 increment) than the next highest bidder.
I'm flattered some think it was a good deal. Obviously I felt the same. But I don't think I "stole" it? Wrong bezel, and quite the ding at 9 o'clock. Hands should be different? But I accept it as presented. Couple other nicks where you expect them. And polished I believe.
I'll be sure to post an incoming upon arrival...

    Mostly because it says
This Buy It Now listing has ended. :D

I think we are not talking about the same auction. Shaun, Patrick, Kyle, I and others are taking about the $500 2998.

    Derp.
Sorry, didn't notice the clearly different item number. Now it makes sense!
And the $500 Pre-Pro did NOT come my way...
