Quick question, and I find kind of silly not being able to tell, but how exactly do you tell the difference between the applied metal logo and the painted logo? Other than just knowing which logo is on which reference number, how do you tell just by looking at them? Thank you very much.

Well the AML (applied metal logo) is slightly reflective (not really shiny) and raised; it's also the earlier narrow-foot logo.

The painted logo is easily identified as painted on, it's white and has the modern wider-foot logo.

Try checking out Google Images for "Speedmaster 145.012" (AML) vs "Speedmaster 3570" and you'll get it soon enough :)

Thank you very much, exactly what I was looking for. Is the actual logo the only part on the dial that goes from the AML to painted? How about the Omega name and Speedmaster text? I know the earlier Omega has an oval shaped O, any other differences? Also, aren't there different versions of the S in Speedmaster?

The logo was the only element of the dial that was applied, so once it was switched to painted, everything on the dial was painted, yes.

As for all the little dial variations, @italy1861 is right, check out Speedmaster101 and Moonwatch Only ("MWO") as there's a bit too much info to be able to share here!
