While I haven't healed from a nasty bite from Spanish drunken squirrel, suddenly...BAM... during a visit to a watch shop in my hometown Surabaya, two local squirrel bit me!!!

The first squirrel: It is a lightly polished Connie C case gold capped cal 751. The dial is in mint condition

The second squirrel: Near mint condition Connie square gold plated Cal 1002 with matched bracelet. The dial condition is very clean

Both I got at (what I think) slightly below eBay US price.

What do you think? Do I score, or previous drunken squirrel venom makes me taking irresponsible decision?

C-Shape with the Third Gen dial is very nice, but are you sure the 368.0847 (looks like this model) has a cal 1002? Should have a cal 1001 by rights and so it might pay to check.

    Regards

You are right it should be 1001 because it is chronometer. To be truth I haven't check the movement because when I went to the shop the owner went out of town and his assistant reluctant to open case back. I trust the shop and able to return it without problem. Looking at the outer condition, I would say the movement should be fine. My problem, cal 1001/2 is known for its unreliable design.

Yes, those calibres were problematic, but many have had the Omega 'fix' when they were taken in for service, so it may be worthwhile asking your watchmaker if the changover parts were installed.

Thanks Dennis, could you elaborate on transition ? So there are 3 stages of C case Connie?

The "n" at the end of Constellation on both the above shots does not have a swept back tail could you tell me why this is? Reason being I have a C case Constellation very similar to the one shown and I have always been a bit suspicious of it for that reason.

I thought it is common for newer model? Probably it has something to do with what Dennis mention as transitional

These are my other C cases. 1 with swept backtail n and 2 without.

The first C-cases had OMEGA and the chronometer script at the top with Constellation at the bottom, just like all the dog leg and standard lug models. At the tail end of the 751 run in the early 70's, they switched and continued with the Constellation under the Ω logo at the top with the OMEGA and chronometer script at the bottom, which carried on into the 10x1 series. Therefore we call the last of the 751's that had the 10x1 dials transition C-cases. The only way to tell is if there's a divider between the day and date or not. 75x = no divider, 10xx = divider.

I think the smooth bezel came first in late 1964. Don't recall any knurled bezels before '66 or '67. The smooth is case reference 168.01x, the knurled is 168.02x (x = 7: date / x = 9: day & date).

So there are 2 type of bezel offered after 67? Because I am sure my smooth bezel coming with 1011, put it on after 1971 production.

Yes, either smooth or knurled for the 561 or 564 and 751 C-cases. Can't say for sure with the post-1972 models.
