“Stealth wealth”, baby! Love it - that’s us!
My Speedmaster was new in March; my Miata is a 1997. An iconic pairing, indeed ~

PS: I have no idea what Speedyphil meant by that “And by August...” comment.

I owned a 96'. My wife wouldn't ride in it, she called it the 'deathmobile' (she's big into hyperbole). She convinced me to sell it by telling me to purchase a BMW 3-series hardtop convertible which is a lovely car but I miss the heck out of tossing that little red Miata around country roads and through the twisties of a forest mountain pass.

My (then) 5 year old niece, since I don't have a carseat ...

The first car I ever bought new was a red/tan '99 LP which suffered at the hands of an H2 illegally crossing traffic. After a few years in a G35, I needed to get back into a convertible. It's my daily driver and there's no such thing as a short commute in Houston, so I wanted the hardtop convertible. Fiance was terrified of such a small car (naturally she's got a ginormo SUV), but she's used to it now.

I miss my 1993 blue Miata - it was a blast. We once loaded 2 sets of golf clubs in the boot and drove from Canon City CO to Copper Mountain CO Golf Course to play, and I'll never forget the fun or the massive over-par score.

    MX5s are brilliant cars.

As far as New York Times articles go, however, that something I’d expect to read on Hodinkee or BuzzFeed.

Love the Mx5! But I love the Abarth 124 version of the same platform even more...

Below a picture of a “normal” Fiat 124 from Austria the other day.

I drive a Z3, but the Miata was a serious contender. With cars and watches, smaller is usually better.

I'm sure Jalopnik is currently writing their own version of NYT's reporting.

£ for £ MX5's are great value and great fun. We've had two but I've gone for a bigger Japanese car now - a Lexus LS600h which is amazing.

The focus here is on the Miata . Sorry about the blurry Speedmaster.

I always thought the acceptable Miata sound was 'Zoom zoom' (well other than uncontrollable giggling going into a nice series of twisties...) :)
    (Nice gauge package BTW)

The Miata is a very underrated sportster. The Speedmaster is an incredibly overrated watch. Irony.
