i was talking to a friend who owns a 1969 Speedmaster Professional. He lets the stopwatch run full time. He says it's better for the movement. I don't agree, but I do run it about an hour each week. Thoughts?

I read that. It didn't answer my question as to whether letting it run full time was better for the watch or not

Did he explain to you why this is "better" for the watch? I would love to hear the logic...

Something about keeping moving parts moving. He was an auto engineer. I told him that lubrication and wear on watches is nothing like a '60 DeSoto.
