I have been looking for a decent one for a while and they just don't come up. I missed Barking Mads' one back in September which was a beauty complete with No.6 end links and 7912 bracelet. If I hadn't been leaving next week I would have given that one at $16K serious consideration. 6 months or a year down the line it will look cheap (maybe).
Do you reckon there was a hefty premium for the tropical dial? Or is that now the market value for any 105.002 in the same condition?
I would have liked to see the dial in other lights. While I will pay a premium for an attractive brown dial I need to be able to see it in different lights. The seller did not go to great pains to illustrate it well. Even in today's heady market I doubt this fetched 16k or if it did, I suspect it has a return ticket.
Well, it has appeared on another thread. https://omegaforums.net/threads/back-from-service-105002-62-tropical.33276/ The dial does look slightly tropical in the first photo. It is a nice watch.
After Kov‘s eebumping of this thread I had a closerlook at the 105.002 dials and realized that you can see the two dial variants as described in MWO as A5 (left) and A6 (right). Second markers On the left side the typical 2998 dial with the second markers going straight to the step of the dial (1). On the right watch the second markers do not reach the step(3). This is normally seen on105.003 dials. Swiss madewriting On the left watch we see the typical late 2998 die with some space between swiss made and the seconds rack (2). On the right watch we see a very „high“ swiss made (4). This is normally seen on 105.003 dials (most of them having the additional T‘s). Great to see all thesevariants united within the OF family (and in this thread). I took the pics above from watches in this thread - hope this is ok.
Time to time it's good to wake up the old demons Thanks @Bienne2998 for sharing the interesting observations.
How's that go again? "You don't own a 105.002; you are a caretaker for the next generation." Much respect and gratitude to the previous caretakers.
