    Hi guys,

how would you value this Speedmaster?
It's a 145.012-67 SP. Comes with box (unknown if original, appears to be period correct).
    My assessment:

    - The 1039 bracelet looks good, case is good as well. Crown looks original. Probably replacement pushers.

    - Bezel appears correct, but to me it doesn't look as good as some others in terms of print quality. I think the numbers are slightly far to the outside. It's not damaged though, so that's a major plus for me.

    - Dial looks good to me, I like the yellowing on the lume plots, although it's not perfectly even.

    - Hands are replacement parts, unfortunately. I would consider having them relumed to match the dial lume.

I would personally pay around $7-8k for this.
    Curious to hear your opinions.

    Tim

    Considering buying this.
Service history is not mentioned in the ad.

Due diligence is required....The onus is on you, to ask the right questions

Probe everything about the watches history…it's provenance & known service history

These are not cheap to correct… subsequently

I believe that 9k is OK for a perfect 145.012 with a bracelet leaving the watch around 7.5k but I wouldn't say this one is perfect.
I'd pay 8k$ may for this piece assuming it's on point service wise

Is that the one from Chrono24? Price drop for few days?

Sounds like the same watch. I found it on eBay, with the same remark about the price drop.

To my opinion, it might be a good idea to consider the price of each constitutive part to evaluate the whole value.

I agree but the difficulty now is the offer/demand ratio... The prices are growing every day for these kind of Speed (vivement Noël :D) ... The crown is the good one, the box is the good one, there are the guaranty papers etc, with such a price you'll never (I hope) lose money on this watch so I think $9k is a good deal.

Until the exchange rate changes markedly against you or there is a financial downturn that forces a significant number of casual collectors to sell under distress.

The problem here is that the intrinsic value of these watches is nowhere near their current selling price.
A good DON bezel may sell for $5k, but that's just because the market is as such at this time. The actual piece of metal isn't worth a thing.
The fact that it tells time means it's about as expensive as the cheapest quartz watch, after a major war / epidemic / natural disaster that destroys the collectors market.

I'd pay $8k or so. Maybe $8.5k, but not $9k.

    Nice watch.

Are none of you bothered by the print on the bezel? That it's slightly far to the "outside"?
I keep looking at it like it's a bit off. I know it is probably within normal tolerance for a watch from the period, but still...

Looks fine to me. Seems like a good price. 24teeth flat foot crown too. Those are transactioning for 500-1000usd for a used to NOS one.

7000 max because the watch is not serviced and the dial is ok and acceptable condition but nothing stellar or exceptionnaly good condition and hands and chrono subdial hands are replacement ones.

The same can be said for a number of vintage mechanical collectors items. Ferraris, Porsches old Indians and Harley's.

Not sure if it's just the picture, but the hands look newer replacements to me..? And aged Tritium ones are getting quite expensive, approaching the 24 teeth crown territory... Still a nice watch, just "to be considered"

I would happily pay 8k-9k if I was in the market for one.
