Plenty loud enough to wake you up in the morning, and doubles as a time telling device that you wear on your wrist during the day, that can also be used to remind you of appointments, meetings, etc.
What will they think of next!
It’s actually pretty amazing how loud these modern JLCs are especially given how many vintage ones I’ve heard that sound like a child blowing a raspberry

Child blowing a raspberry - that's about the best description I've heard of the old "buzzy" sounding watches.
These sound like and old school bell, and that's due to the gong that inside the case back:
The movement is superior to the Hodonkey thing for sure...
And night visibility is high...

·Here is mine. Looks halfway decent, readable at a glance, very good light, easy to set, smooth sweep quartz, silent when the alarm is not going off, loud enough when alarm sounds, survives getting knocked off the night stand, and cheap enough if it doesn't. I could not ask for anything more.

·It think it's been done already, but a Bellmatic is definitely a superior 'travel clock' option.
it's superior to the HODINKEE in many ways.
In addition to an alarm, it has day and date functions. It's perpetual - 8 days is for suckers - and comes with a handy bracelet so you can carry it with you to make sure you don't leave it behind. It's also compact and the movement is much better finished than the Hodinkee.
And the real bonus, it cost me 1.25% of the cost of the HODINKEE.
