Do you pick up the rents driving the BMW or take the beater car?

Well, looking at the car and the year, this must be the beater :)

Years ago, I had a handyman that would come and do work driving his Mercedes SUV. I found it quite hilarious.

Those wagons are pretty hard to come by around here. Congrats on having one, and making it into a BMW pick-up truck :)

When you have to get to the beach fast.

Since finding a e39 540 sport touring is basically impossible, and BMW no longer sells non awd wagons in the US I have to make do. Although if the right x5 35d comes up...

Is it legal in your state to have an euro licence plate on front?

Man literally yesterday I had the central locking fail on my sisters e34, had to do the emergency unlock, climb through into the back seat and try to yank it out to get to the fuses and pulled every muscle in my unfit shoulders and back doing it. Aside from the rare electrical gremlin though they're bombproof, both ours are M20 525i's one auto one manual.

No it is not. I have been pulled over a few times for moving violations, but never been cited for not displaying the proper front plate. It does carry a fine.

I was pretty surprised I was able to fit two six-foot folding tables in my Forester and close the hatch.

Yup! Mine occasionally flashes an incorrect error light and decorative trim bits and pieces are starting to sag/fall out. But, man, she's a beast! 266k miles and going strong.

    She is the 'beater'! :)
Most comfortable ride with plush real leather seats (not even bmw makes those anymore, my wife's e60 has the granulated fake leather, meh), carries cargo like a truck, rounds corners and zooms on i-95 like a race car, what's not to like..
