Good morning to all, I would love to get some input from anyone into early Leonidas Military watches. Generally focussed on early Omega chronographs, I recently came across this Leonidas Chrono (Val 22, dm. 42mm) but my knowledge about them is extremely limited... While I can't help liking it, there seem to be various details that irritate my eye... these points come to my mind: - while the dial reminds me of the CP 1+2, case and bezel are different in various ways. - bezel possibly a later replacement? - also the crown seems not to be original... Grateful for any thoughts / comments! Have a good Sunday, Johannes
I'm no military expert, but would say that there is no possibility that the bezel is original. As in 0%.
I think so too. You don't have to be a seasoned military watch expert to clearly see that a few things don't match here... styling, patina, etc.
Just asked for it, but with the various inconsistencies being confirmed, this will not likely change my mind.
Not that I would know, but from looking at the related early Leonidas: good point. At least if it is supposed to be in any way related to the CP1/2. After digging a little deeper: it seems to me that only the (admittedly lovely) dial is from any other early Leonidas (also the Swiss Made at 6 should not be there if a CP), while both case + bezel are from a totally different brand. Too far fetched?
Big gap between the inner dial and the outer minute scale, which has a totally different font. What a mess.
Thanks to all confirming what my intuition had told me right away and sorry for wasting your time with this. Thread closed.
