    Hi Omegoids, (and @Northernman)

I just picked up this working 15 jewel Lemania handwind (ref 241?) for 50 Euros! It is working, the dial looks fab (early 50's?) but the case is in a bad way and the minute hand appears incorrect. Can anyone point me in the direction of the name of this style of hand (propellor?)..
    Thanks.

    Hi,

Sorry to be the bringer of some sad news:
I am relatively certain that the dial has been redone. The minute track is very heavy/thick printed. Something I have not seen on any other Lemania watch.
The hands are not belonging together. The hour and minute should have been of the same style.
    Examples below:

The movement is the 15j/non-shock protected version of the cal 3000-family.
Serial numbers date it to late 1940s.
Do you see a caliber number stamped under the balance? Or just the Lemania logo?
Could be that your version pre-dates the 3xxx caliber numbering (started in late 40s).

Is there a case reference number stamped in the caseback (inside)?

PM me in case you are going forward with it as a "projects watch". I may have some donors/stuff in the drawers.

    Cheers!

I disagree, That might just be the distortion of the crystal dome and angle of photo, sub second print, numerals and logo looks good.. One of the hands is wrong no doubt! A couple of more photos of the dial please:) In any case what a lovely movement for 50 Euro! ::love::

    That dial I like!
Still believe the seconds markers are too fat on the OP watch.

Thanks for the reply...it does appear a distortion from crystal and the angle of photo...dial track is pretty much identical to Mitka's image. I'm fairly sure it's an untouched dial...the ref 241 pictured definitely you provided has more of a 50's feel and this more mid-late 40's. Any idea when it first came out? Perhaps the case might not be original it has pop back as opposed to the screw down.. It's the 'hour "hand that is of course utterly wrong...of course I'd be up for replacing it or both hands with something more suitable...let me know whatcha have Northernman !! I'll have a look under the balance and get back to you. Seller wanted 80 euros , I offered 50 with postage and he said yes. A pretty good deal I reckon, especially as I wanted this calibre.....Nice to get this addition to my Lemania branded family.. Lemania 9104pa.auto.1959.jpeg Lemania105.jpg

You say that the minute hand is incorrect. Which hand is which? I would have guessed that the leaf hand is the minute hand and that it is correct, since it extends properly to the minute track. I was assuming that the straight hand was the hour hand, and that it was too long.

Is it the other way around? The long leaf hand is the hour hand, and the shorter straight hand is the minute hand?

Looks much better in that angle. I just might have to reconsider....
Two other are real gems (as well).

Not home now. Parts bin needs some tidying.
Will PM you later next week.
    Cheers!

does anyone know the dimensions of the hands I should be replacing it with? I'm thinking some nice vintage guilloche hands of that period..
